10 staple pieces for your wardrobe

Hey everyone! I have put together a list of my top 10 pieces that you should build your wardrobe around. They are versatile and can be used to base any look around. When you are lost for what to wear, these key pieces are a great go-to for inspiration as you can literally style them in thousands of ways. Being a typical girl, it is very common for me to be super lost. I am constantly stressing minutes before I'm supposed to leave the house because I can't figure out what to wear. Then I realised that this was because my wardrobe was just completely unorganised. I had thousands of t shirts and then some fancy outfits, but nothing in between, no staple pieces that I could style an outfit around. So I revamped my wardrobe, and using this list, you can too. You will no longer be late for important meetings, this is foolproof!

JEANS

I cannot stress enough how important it is to have a good pair of jeans. Make sure you find ones that fit great, are flattering for your body type, and are not too extravagant so you can literally pair them with anything. I think the best staple is a good pair of black jeans. You can style them with a collared shirt and some ankle boots for a more sophisticated look. Or, you can go with a glitzy blouse and black heels for a smarter more dressed up look. And if you find ones that are super comfortable, you can even just wear them for running errands with a t shirt and some flats. Definitely accessorize however, to avoid the teenager look.

SHIRT

Shirts are severely underrated but are so easy to pair with a pair of jeans or skirt and immediately look put together. I love anything with collars anyway and shirts are just a great way to be original and show your style. You can opt for a classic white shirt and pair it with blue jeans for a timeless look. You can even get adventurous with patterns and do something crazy with the print. There are so many options out there so there is bound to be one for you. You can completely tuck them in, but I love the look of the messy half in half out look, much more on trend right now.

SKIRT

The skirt is often overlooked when people are choosing staples for their wardrobe, but it can be a wonderful piece to have. Paired with a t shirt, some biker boots and a hat this can give you a cool, casual look. But you can also dress it up with a blouse tucked in and some heels for a more classy evening look. I love the whole preppy vibe that I get when I wear a skirt and think it is so easy to style so definitely add it to your list of staple pieces for your wardrobe.

BLAZER

I love a good blazer to complete an outfit. Most people seem to have this image that a blazer is only for the workplace or for a job interview, but I promise you, paired with some boyfriend jeans or a nice heel, the blazer can look really chic. It doesn't have to be super fancy either. I wore a blazer the other day to go shopping paired with a crop top and black jeans and the whole outfit was the perfect balance of casual and done up. You can go for the classic black tailored blazer, or go for something a bit more casual like this boyfriend style [centre].

DAY DRESS

The day dress is probably the easiest thing to throw on when you can't decide what to wear. Why wouldn't it be? It's a whole outfit with only one piece of clothing! You can go for something short for a more casual look. Or you can choose a midi dress for a smarter look, but paired with some trainers can also look cool and casual. Skater style or a shirt dress, pick one to suit you can you can an all in one staple piece.

JUMPSUIT/PLAYSUIT

Again, another perfect all in one piece. I think I prefer a nice jumpsuit/playsuit to a dress because you can just be so much more comfortable in them. I feel so much more relaxed not constantly worrying if my dress is going to blow up and give me my own Marilyn Monroe moment. If you're feeling a bit more playful and flirty, a playsuit is perfect for you. I love taking these on holiday with me because you can look cute while still feeling super comfortable and relaxed walking around. A jumpsuit is one of my go-to evening looks. They are perfect for accessorizing in the evening with a statement necklace and a pair of heels or wedges. You can be even more in trend by getting out with an off the shoulder sleeve, like this one from Topshop.

LITTLE BLACK DRESS

If you are ever in need of an outfit for a last minute night out or event, the LBD is the way to go. This staple has been in women's wardrobes for centuries and that's because it never goes out of style or lets us down. Make sure you have one that looks perfect on you. It could be a short skater style, a more modest midi, or a sexy plunging body con. Whatever style you go for, this is a definite statement piece that every girl needs in her collection.

JACKET

A jacket is vital and may seem like a really obvious staple, but I had to include it. A jacket is not just something that you throw on when it's getting a bit cold, or hasn't quite reached summer yet. A jacket can really be used as a way to style your outfit. I have sometimes completely based my entire outfit around a jacket purely because I loved it. You can go for a bomber jacket which is very much the rage right now. I actually did blog post all about the bomber jacket and where you can get some great ones so check that out. You can also go for the standard leather biker jacket which can make any outfit look immediately cool. If you want to be a bit smarter, go for the longer style of jacket, in perhaps a more military style. Whichever way you choose to go remember that it is a piece in its own right so try and style an outfit around it.

COAT

I find shopping for coats really difficult because there are only a limited amount of styles out there so every one ends up wearing the same coat! I always suggest going for something very simple without too many collars or frills. I would suggest getting two, one in a lighter colour perfect for day time. And then a darker colour or perhaps a longer style for the evening. I really loved duster coats last winter so that's kind of my go-to style but make sure you are absolutely in love with the one you pick because some coats can end up being quite pricey!

HANDBAG

Handbags are the perfect way to complete this list of 10 staple pieces for your wardrobe because they are the perfect way to complete an outfit. Whether you choose a smaller tote bag or a large shopper bag, carrying an amazing bag will automatically carry your outfit to another level. You can really walk with confidence when you are carrying a stunning bag on your arm. I always think the best go-to is a leather bag but by all means go for something different like suede or fur if that is more your style.

5 shoes every girl should own

Shoes. Some girls would consider these her best accessory, a way to complete any outfit. Other girls even go the point of having a severe shoe addiction and are not able to go out without coming home with at least 5 pairs of new shoes. And I cannot deny, shoes are very important! When you walk in a good pair of shoes you can feel empowered and confident. And of course I am not saying that the number one way to feel confident is to wear a good pair of shoes, because that comes from within and learning to love yourself. But a killer heel, or some fantastic wedges can give you a little extra va va voom when you're walking down the street. I have created what I think are the 5 types of shoes that every girl should own to build her collection. So if you're shoe collection is missing one of these I suggest you arrange an emergency shopping trip ASAP.

1) Flats

I think flats are so important and a must-have staple in any girl's collection. Whether they are trainer style or ballet pumps, flats are just the easiest thing to throw on when you want to be super comfortable.

2) Sandals

Sandals are just the perfect shoe for the summer. Whether they are flat sandals or with a chunky heel, they can look glam whilst still being super comfortable.

3) Courts

If you want to look done up and smart, courts are the way to go. These are perfect for making you look professional in the workplace, or for adding a touch of sophistication to a casual outfit.

4) Wedges

I absolutely love wedges. I think they are the most comfortable way to add height whilst still looking fabulous. Plus, there are some amazing ones out there, you can go for a midi wedge or something crazy tall. There are wedges out there for everyone.

5) Boots

In the winter months, I live in boots. My favourite ones to wear are ankle boots because they add a cute touch to any outfit. You can choose from suede, leather and even fur! Boots are a staple in any shoe collection.

Celebrity Street Style: Kendall Jenner

Kendall Jenner is at the top of my list of celebrity style inspiration. I absolutely love her style! She finds a way to style chic high fashion looks in a way that makes them look effortless and fun. She adds her LA flair to every outfit making each one classy yet casual at the same time, which is something I am always trying to achieve. It was very hard to sieve through all of Kendall's street style looks but I managed to choose my favourites. I hope you too can get some inspiration from these looks or you can just choose to scroll in awe at how perfect she manages to look every time.

This is by far one of my favourite looks from Kendall. She shows how you can never really go wrong with a pair of black jeans, but she has put a slightly sexy spin on it by pairing them with this monochrome shirt with a plunging neckline and some black stilettos. The gold detailing on the belt gives this look an edgy spin which I love and her hair is very natural which makes the look a bit more free.

Again, this look is a perfect blend of casual, sophisticated and edgy. Kendall has taken a basic white t shirt and denim shorts combo and managed to accessorize it into this chic cool look. I have to talk about these shoes! They are insane and must be a nightmare to take on and off, but I salute Kendall for pulling them off because I certainly couldn't.

I included this look for two reasons. Firstly, Kendall is wearing the same bag as in the first shot which just shows that celebs are just the same as us, and aren't afraid to use the same bag again and again if they love it. And secondly, OMG this coat! It is amazing. Again showing how Kendall loves to take a simple outfit and base it around one amazing piece. Everything else can just be super simple. Black jeans, black boots, and a black leather bag. But this coat just lifts it onto a new level.

This outfit is adorable. A little bit on the softer side for Kendall, but she looks awesome just the same. I love this high neck jumper tucked into the slightly baggy boyfriend jeans. The whole look may have looked slightly flat, but Kendall paired it which these black stilettos, lifting the look from sad western mum to high fashion wow.

A perfect example of how to style the mum jeans! Kendall has paired them with a mustard high neck crop top and these amazingly out of this world metallic shoes. The whole look is very 90's meets FROW and I love it.

Kendall executes the chic edgy street style perfectly, but can also pull of a more elegant, classy look as well. I love how subtle and delicate this outfit is. The beautiful blush tones are all the trend right now and she looks super elegant. She does put her own spin on it though but slightly untucking her blouse to make the look a bit more free and loose which I like. The slightly wavy hair adds to this making it again the perfect blend of chic NY model meets LA girl.

Kendall is a woman who means business. This combination of masculine pinstripe trousers, off the shoulder crop top and choker necklace make this look super striking. Anything monochrome automatically looks professional so a look like this is perfect for important meetings or just walking about town looking killer.

Again another example of the monochrome look. I love how Kendall has paired this chic long white blazer with almost jogger-like trousers, and studded brogues. It's a mix of street and chic that I love and that Kendall does time and time again, looking fabulous every time. The smaller details like these delicate silver necklaces have made this look a bit more girly. Kendall really looks great in this and I am definitely going to be stealing this look.

As a little bonus, I wanted to include Kendall's look from the 2016 MTV Movie Awards because I think these shoes really need some applause. I followed Kendall's Snapchat from that night and the effort it took for her to wear these shoes and keep them up throughout the night is really commendable. She looked amazing.

I absolutely LOVE statement jewellery! I think it is the best way to jazz up any outfit and make it look like you made so much effort, when really you made none at all. The main way to do this is to style a great statement necklace, but a statement ring or earrings can also make quite the impact. Top Swimwear Picks

Hi everyone! As summer is just around the corner I thought that I would pull together an edit of all my favourite swimsuits and bikini sets from the shops at the moment. I will definitely be purchasing some of these to take with me on holiday this summer. From looking around in stores and online, I could see that a massive trend with swimsuits right now is the 'plunge' neckline, which I actually think can look quite flattering, albeit a little bit revealing. With bikinis, I have been seeing a lot of crochet, Aztec prints, and again the triangle bikini which has been a major trend for the last couple of years. So just scroll down to see some of my top picks and as usual, everything will be linked to the sites so you can check them out for yourselves. Enjoy!

High End to High Street: How to work the summer trends without the splurge

Hey everyone! Welcome to part 2 of my High End to High Street series. Thank you for all the love you guys showed to part 1 where I showed you how to get the fall/winter trends on the high street. In this post today, I am going to be showing you some of the summer trends that I have seen from the Spring/Summer '16 runways shows and where you can get them from 5 high street stores. For each trend, I am going to show you my picks from Zara, Topshop, New Look, H&M, and ASOS, so you can get them for yourselves. So let's get into it with the first trend!

Stripes

I am loving this trend right now! I have always been a little bit hesitant to wear stripes, particularly horizontal stripes, because they can look unflattering. However, if you pick a style that suits your body type, this can look amazing. It is a perfect way to bring vivid colours into your summer wardrobe and you can be as subtle or as crazy as you want with it.

Zara Stripes and Patches Top £15.99
Topshop Over-sized Stripe Shirt Dress £39

New Look Yellow Stripe Culottes £24.99
H&M Bikini £20.98 (for top and bottoms)
ASOS Glamourous Tall Co-Ord Stripe Shorts £20

Ruffled Dress

This is such a pretty trend, I love any excuse to wear something flowy so this trend is just for me. It's very Victorian-esque which I like and designers have put a modern spin on this historic look.

Zara Printed Dress £49.99
Topshop Floral Print Shirt Dress by Rare £55
New Look Parisian White Floral Print Frill Wrap Dress £22.99
H&M Halterneck Dress £49.99
ASOS Floral Ruffle Top Maxi Dress £45

Off Shoulder Tops

This trend of the 'peasant top' has been around for the last couple of years, but it is still very present on the runway. I am not complaining though, because I love tops like these and I think they look really cute. Luckily, the stores are still stocking them in full swing, you can literally find them everywhere.

Zara Off-the-Shoulder Top £25.99
Topshop Festival Print Bardot Crop Top by Jaded London £25
New Look White Stripe Frill Bardot Neck Top £15.99
H&M Off the Shoulder Top £12.99
ASOS Hollister Marilyn Off the Shoulder Top £19

Backpacks

For many years, I felt like if I wore a backpack I would just look as though I was going to school again. Now many stores are stocking backpacks that are actually really cute and non-school like at all, so this trend is actually taking off. There are many different routes you can take with this look. You can try an all leather backpack for a more sophisticated look. Or you go more casual, and choose one that is made of softer fabric with an embroidered patter, like this one from H&M.
Zara Backpack with Zip £35.99

Topshop Shearling Backpack £80

New Look Blue Stripe Print Tassel Trim Backpack £19.99
H&M Patterned Backpack £19.99
ASOS River Island Zip Detail Rucksack £30

Chunky Sandals

I was a little bit skeptical of trying this trend out because some of these sandals from the runway can look a little bit 'out there' but once seeing what the high street has to offer, I changed my mind. There are some gorgeous chunky sandals available and here are a few of my favourites. I included two from ASOS because I just couldn't choose, I love them both!

Zara Wedges with Ankle Strap £29.99
Topshop WARWICK Ankle Tie Wedge £59
New Look Black Leather Chunky Espadrille Sandals £24.99
H&M Wedge Heel Sandals £19.99
ASOS TALIA Wedge Sandals £22
ASOS TOO GOOD Suede Tie-up Wedge Sandals £38
